Winter 2020 Training Series

For the third year, HVO and WCOC are pleased to host a series of six bare-bones, time-yourself orienteering races this winter. Each event offers a Brown, Green and Red course, and participants download the maps from a link posted on the HVO website which we'll provide a link to here. Control flags will be out in the woods for about four weeks and are timed to overlap some weekends so you can do two in one weekend. You run whenever you want while the flags are out. The races are honor system based with no boxes/punches on the controls, just touch the flag (no remote visual punching). Feel free to time yourself and post your results on AttackPoint.

A big thank you to our course designers who make the Winter Series possible: Lina, Tony, David, George, Lyn, Geof, and William!

The Winter Series 3 maps are now available and the controls are in the woods for Westmoreland Sanctuary.

The Winter Series 2 courses at Huntington State Park, Redding, CT, are also still available and will be for at least another week. Because of limited parking there is no single start point. Depending on which parking spot you use (shown as purple crosses on the maps) you can use control 1, 2, or 3 as your first control and then come back to the parking spot for the finish. The parking areas are also shown on the course information sheet. Thanks to Tony and Karen for the courses.
